Make no mistake about it, the Hospice Honeymoon Period has come and gone regarding the trust level that CMS has in our provision and documentation of services. In the past few months we have assisted hospices dealing with UPIC Audits, SMRC Audits, Targeted Probe and Educate Audits. The OIG recently issued a scathing report referring to hospice survey deficiencies and citing numerous instances of patients being harmed due to lack of compliance with the Conditions of Participation. This program is designed to inform Hospice Administrators, Physicians, Clinicians and Stakeholders with practical guidance in relation to compliant documentation of services.
